Status effects (commonly shortened to statuses) are special soldier conditions that improve or worsen soldiers' perfomance on the field for some time. In this game, the majority of status effects, such as Death Wizard and Aim Bot, are locked behind killstreaks of similar names, and, while technically being statuses, are never referenced to as such. That is, there are only four common status effects: Fire, that deals damage over time, Freeze, that lowers fire rate and damage, Zap, that does nothing, and Acid, that also deals damage over time, and all of these statuses are negative, contrasted by killstreaks all being positive.

A deeper look on the statuses mentioned above is provided below. For killstreaks, see the Killstreaks article.

Fire
Status Effects - Fire
  • Deals moderate damage per second for a short time.
  • Damage: from 3 (at level 1) to 12 (at level 50) at a time, about three times per second. Damage depends on the level of who inflicted the status, with higher level enemies having an extra damage buff/multiplier.
  • Standard length: 2 seconds
Acid
Status Effects - Acid
  • Deals low damage per second for a long time.
  • Damage: from 1.5 (at level 1) to 6 (at level 50) at a time, about three times per second. Damage depends on the level of who inflicted the status, with higher level enemies having an extra damage buff/multiplier.
  • Is a tribute to poison, a common status effect in games. SFH2 acid can be called "poison in a sci-fi wrapper", as its effects and graphics do make it look similar to poison.
  • Standard length: 10 seconds
Freeze
Status Effects - Ice
  • Is supposed to simply lower rate of fire by 50%, cutting DPS in half. However, it only lowers fire rate by a third (in other words, +50% delay between shots), and also unintentionally (see zap for explanation) reduces damage dealt by 20%, for a total of ≈46% DPS reduction.
  • Is associated with nitrogen.
  • Standard length: 2 seconds
Zap
Status Effects - Zap
  • Is supposed to reduce damage dealt by 20%, though some descriptions incorrectly note 30%. However, this effect was erroneously assigned to freeze instead, leaving zap without any effects besides visuals.
  • Is associated with electricity.
  • Standard length: 2 seconds
Crap
Status Effects - Crap
  • Reveals the enemy on your radar; appears to do nothing on yourself or teammates. Is also used for a comic effect.
  • Is exclusive to the Dooty Launcher weapon.
  • Standard length: 3 seconds

The same status effect cannot be stacked. Upon trying to do so, it'll simply erase the previous effect and apply the new one. Different statuses, however, can and will stack up.
