The .500s is a General exclusive gun, which deals the highest damage-per-shot of any magnum in the game. It also has the smallest magazine size of 10, and has the slowest rate of fire of any magnum available. However, it does have high range and accuracy, and is arguably the best magnum for long-range engagements.
The.500s rely on first shot precision and a fine-tuned trigger finger (unless using full auto) in close range engagements because of its slow rate of fire. It cannot be spammed, as it is easily oversampled. It does take a lot of getting used to, but when the slow fire rate is mastered it can be devastating in both close and long range targets. With high damage like this, two and three shot kills would be the norm. However, aiming for the head is good practice, as this will increase the amount of two-shot kills you will achieve.
Despite the close quarters potential, I would pack a solid secondary. An auto pistol, like the G18 is a good choice. However, feel free to experiment with high-power alternatives like the desert eagle, automag and the throwing knives. The high damage combined with the moderate fire rate can make for a great back up. Fast melee weapons, such as the first blood and the wrench can be a stab in the dark (no pun intended), but can be very effective if you are able to strife and evade the oncoming shots. However, slower melee weapons, like the katana and shock rod are bad choices, because of their slow rate of attack. You need something that complements the .500s strong damage and slow rate of fire, not something similar to it.
All in all, the .500s are a flavorsome pair of guns, ready to kill of any opponents foolish to challenge you. If your hands feel strong enough to handle the most powerful handguns in the world, cook up this gat, and dish out a plate full of thunder.
